Transportation in Bangalore

In Bangalore, transportation is worse than any other metros in India. One of the main reasons is due to the lack of subway system. While the construction of one is “on progress”, the dates for completion got extended for each phase making the metro subway system o on live by 2011 end. Other than this the basic mode of public transportation system would be BMTC buses. The BMTC buses are among the many first in India. They are the first to introduce the Volvo lone of Metroliner buses etc. However other dubious distinctions are like having the country’s highest fares. Normally in most parts of the state the common rate of government or public buses would be around Rs 0.5/km. In Bangalore however the rate comes to nearly Rs1/km. Also the rates for the ‘Volvo’ buses are higher than the normal BMTC buses. The rate per km would hover between Rs 2 – 3/km. There fore for traveling between ITPL and KempeGowda Bus Station (Majestic) it would cost Rs45-50. The distance is actually less than 30 km. When I travel home which is nearly 400 km away, I just had to pay Rs 190 for the high end Super Fast buses of Kerala. How can the BMTC justify these rates
